December Match Report

Saturday, December 20, 2025 - BASF, Phoenix, AZ

Larry Piercy, Match Director

For our last monthly match of 2025, we could not have asked for more perfect weather.  The temps ranged from 64° up to 73° with humidity averaging at 30%.  Winds were very mild out of the north, swinging around to the east, and by the end of the match, from the SSE, creating what we call the BASF swirl.  The winds were variable from mostly zero velocity, up to a high of 7 mph.  Very pleasant shooting conditions under sunny skies with scattered high wispy clouds.  Perfect!

Match director, and club president, Larry Piercy, wanted to give everyone an early Christmas present by NOT mandating a standing or kneeling lane.  Twelve lanes were set with the usual 2 targets per / 2 shots each / 48-shot match.  There were some tough targets (1/2” kz at 22 yards, for example), but most were quite doable, as the following scores will indicate.  We had 17 shooters for today, competing in 4 classes; open PCP, open Piston, Hunter Piston and Hunter PCP.  It is encouraging to see the interest and increase in piston shooting.  Barbara ended up putting on a shooting clinic in Hunter PCP by clearing the course…..again!

After the match, and with the targets and related paraphernalia collected, we all sat down to “Grumpy Stew”, provided by “Grumpy” Pat Callihan and augmented by club provided chili.  We thanked him immensely for his generosity prior to our club meeting for election of club officers and other club business.

Airgunners of Arizona wants to thank all of its’ members for all the help and assistance provided throughout this past year and to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Respectfully submitted,

Mark Kauffman, Secretary
