Airgunners of Arizona December Match Report
December 21, 2024 - Ben Avery Shooting Range - Phoenix, AZ
Match director, Mark Kauffman
It is December. A few days before Christmas. We are shooting a field target match in tee shirts. Some of the guys were wearing shorts! Don’t be angry at us; we live in Arizona……and it not always this nice, but today was exceptional.
The sky was a clear blue and cloudless. The temps ranged from 63° up to 70° and humidity was in the low 20% bracket. The wind, what little there was of it, floated in from the north, then WNW, moved around to the WSW and then from the west, with velocities of anywhere from dead calm up to 5 mph. Just a subtle little breeze floating around. These conditions were darn near unbelievable and a far cry from a week ago at one of our weekly Tuesday matches, when we thought we were gonna freeze and get blown away.
Arizona can be like that…….fickle!
We had 12 shooters competing today in 4 classes; one each in WFTF, Open Piston, and Hunter piston, with the rest in Hunter PCP. Even with the stellar conditions, there were no perfect scores.
After the match concluded, the pit crew did their usual-top-notch job in tearing down the range in record time. Awards were presented and afterwards we had a brief club end-of-year meeting. Everyone parted company with Christmas greetings extended to all.
From everyone at Airgunners of Arizona, to the entire airgunning community, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Respectfully submitted,
Mark Kauffman
