Field Target Club

TRAC match – August 4, 2020

Five shooters today with a new guy.  Gene found us online, made contact, bought a gun, and shot his first match….inside of a week!  He joined the club as well.  How’s that for enthusiasm?

Temps today were lower than last week and the humidity not as high.  The sky was light overcast with some clouds, but the sun did not seem as blinding, either.  The “breeze” that we did get came from 6:00 and by the end of the match, shifted around to about 8:00 and was consistent, not the blustery type as experienced in the recent past.  The forecast had called for 5 – 10 mph winds with gusts as high as 20 mph.  We didn’t get that.  All in all, a nice day to shoot.

Typical 5 lanes then shift targets at halftime for a 40-shot match.  Set up done in 10 minutes, practice a bit, then started at 8:20.  Done by 9:45 +/-.  Targets positioned all over the place relating to distance and KZ sizes.  Fun stuff.

Old man Mike and Larry were tied at the end with clean scores; 40/40.  They decided to have a shoot-off.  Mike finished in first with 40 +1.  Larry shot a perfect score and had to settle for second!  Still, it was good shooting.  Mike shot his Thomas and Larry his Tsar.  They were having fun.

Yours truly shot his TX-200 and finished with 39/40.  My best yet with a springer.  I’ll take that!  Barry, shooting his Red Wolf, was right behind with a 38/40 and Gene, the new guy, shooting a brand-new Red Wolf, shot a 32/40 for his first match!  I think this guy has shot before.  He certainly knows how to.

Finished up and went for burgers at Wild Horse West.  We were the only ones in there at that time.  Good burgers!

Next match, next week.  Tuesday at same times.  We get there around 7:30 am with quick set up, one shooter per lane and keep moving.  Works great that way.  If we get more, we will double up and still have fun.

It is good to be retired!
