TRAC match – March 2, 2021

We shot our last match at Rancho Crist today before heading back to BASF Rifle Silhouette range next Tuesday.  As usual, Gene set up a 48-shot match using the 6 lanes of 2 targets each, then shot twice after moving the firing line back at half time.  These are challenging matches that are fun to shoot in their own right, save for one small item…….the wind!  Gene keeps forgetting the wind.  Today, the NWS (which I refer to prior to setting up a course) called for 10 mph winds out of the east with gusts as high as 20 mph, shifting to the south toward the afternoon.

The wind forecast was close to being right on the money, with the wind 5 – 10 mph and buffeting unpredictably like someone with Atrial Fibrillation on steroids.  Here’s a tidbit; how about a 38” KZ at 20 yards in a crosswind?  Gene is diabolical!  He also wants to make sure that old man Mike never gets another clean score on his watch….LOL!

There were 7 of us today, so we had 3 pairs and Barry shot separately.  I think that Gene and Mike are officially engaged.  Gene always seems to “randomly” pair Mike and himself together…….every week.  Here are the scores;

Old man Mike 44/48 with his reconfigured Thomas (He did something to it…)

Barry 36/48 shooting his redwolf

Larry 35/48 shooting his grand prix (claiming he wasn’t having a good day)

Wayne 35/48 shooting his Brocock sniper

Gene 32/48 shooting his redwolf (and complaining about the wind!!!)

Scott 29/48 shooting his Marauder

Mark 23/48 shooting his TX200

Once again, we gotta thank Elma for making burgers for lunch.  With her Filipino heritage, she seems to really enjoy doing this for the guys.  We did appreciate it.

As stated above, we will be back the rifle silhouette range at BASF next Tuesday and will gather at 9:00 to get things set up and rolling.

Respectfully (and somewhat embarrassingly) submitted
