Field Target Club

TRAC match report – Tuesday, May 19, 2020 – rifle silhouette / BASF

We had 7 shooters attending today in bright conditions, with reasonably lower temperatures and a “breeze”.  Low to moderate winds out of the southwest primarily (varied from 7:00 mostly but did swing back and forth from there to 5:00 position….Frequently)

All in attendance set 5 lanes in no time flat with the usual 2 targets per/shoot through once/move targets around/shoot through second time.  The winds are squirrely, but has been stated by a number of people over the course of time, “This is, after all, Ben Avery range”.  We started at 9:00 and were finished with all targets put away by 11:15.

Old man Mike (Thomas) was top gun again, only missing two shots.  Barry (Red Wolf) finished with 36/40, followed by Ben (BSA Gold Star and shooting freestyle) with 35/40.

Terry (also shooting a Thomas) shot 28/40 in WFTF, followed by yours truly (TX200) with 27/40, and Larry (Diana 56.  Another piston shooter!!) with 26/40.  Chris H (new guy sharing Ben’s BSA) also shot 26/40 for his first match.  All good shooting considering the wind conditions.

Next Tuesday will be the last TRAC match for the time being.  With range availability, we can consider repeating this activity more often.

We continue to practice social distancing per BASF mandate.  We were being remotely monitored by BASF personnel having a “training session” of sorts under the nearby trees at the back of the range.  We saw them watching, so we behaved ourselves.

Respectfully submitted,
