Field Target Club

TRAC match – June 8, 2021

Quite a breezy day today on the pistol silhouette range at BASF.  Clear, blue skies for the most part in our area of operations, but cloudy elsewhere.  Temps were comfortable starting at 84 degrees and warming to 89 by the end of the match.  The wind was pronounced upon arrival and stayed that way throughout the entire time on site today.  8 to 10 mph, and gusting at times to 20 mph.  It worked its way from the east to the southeast, then around to the south, but fluctuated at times back and forth.  This was evident with the target paddles showing pellet impacts bunched at 9:00 o’clock position and spilling over onto the target faces, and this despite holding well outside the KZ at 3:00 o’clock.

We had all the materials to set up six lanes, but forgot two targets, so we only set up five lanes for a 40-shot match.  This worked well in that we had five shooters.

Mike 38/40 – Thomas – got caught by the wind only a couple of times.

Larry 36/40 – CR-X (.20) – shot well for missing the past several matches.

Barry 35/40 – Redwolf – Also shot well in the wind.

Mark 34/40 – CR-X st – dusted off this PCP after not shooting it for a few years.

Scott 31/40 – Sniper – still experiencing scope shift issues, otherwise shot well.

Our thoughts are with Wayne right now, who came down ill while visiting family in Colorado.  Wayne, here’s a shout out from us to help you get well…..soon!  We’re thinking about you, buddy.

Next Tuesday we will be back on the rifle silhouette range.

On a bright note, we were told that the permit for Mormon Lake should be in our hands by the end of the week.  Stage I fire restrictions are still in place, but that shouldn’t stop us from shooting back up in the pines.  A reminder will go out to all, the week prior to the match.  There are some additional requirements to adhere to, but nothing insurmountable.

Respectfully submitted.
