TRAC match – May 4, 2021

We are back at the pistol silhouette range this week due to another user group reserving the rifle silhouette range ahead of us.  Oh, well……there is more than one way to skin a cat, so we adapted and overcame.  It actually worked pretty well for the 7 shooters that participated.  We set 6 lanes and shot thru twice for a 48-shot match.

The weather was cooperative with temps ranging from 66 to 87 degrees, clear skies with distant thin clouds.  The wind was constant and predictable coming out of the SE and towards the end of the match, from the south.  Wind speeds were 6 – 9 mph, with gusts as high as 17 mph at the end of the match.  A few times it was dead calm for a few moments; just enough to make you sit up and wonder, “what just happened?”

Fortunately, the canopy that we shot from underneath provided plenty of shade from the bright sunshine, and we did not feel overheated.  Winter ceased almost abruptly, followed by a few weeks of spring, and now all-of-a-sudden, summer is upon us.

Old man Mike was top gun again with a 47/48 with his Thomas.

Barry was right on his tail with 46/48 with his redwolf.

Wayne is really liking his new scope on his Brocock Sniper and shot 43/48

Larry tied with Wayne at 43/48 and was shooting his CR-X .20 cal.

Scott, back briefly from turkey hunting, shot 37/48 with his new Brocock Sniper.

Mark shot 36/48 with his TX200 springer.

Joe is coming along nicely with his HW97K springer by shooting 29/48

We had a brief visit by Dave Williams, our range liaison officer with BASF.   He answered some questions that the guys had, and clarified a few items about procedure otherwise.  He is almost afraid to stay too long for fear of getting sucked into shooting Airgun with us.  He looked longingly at the rigs but had to get back to work.

Next week we are back at rifle silhouette.  The venue will flip flop a little until things are squared away, but as stated earlier, we adapt and overcome.

Respectfully submitted,
