TRAC match – March 30, 2021

‘Tis the end of March, and we are just breaking into spring, and our match today was……absolutely delightful!  The temperature upon arrival was 70 degrees, and warmed to 77 by the end of the match.  The skies were blue and somewhat hazy, but otherwise clear.  The wind even behaved itself.  At the start of the match, it was coming out of the north (shifting between 11:00 and 1:00) at about 3 – 5 mph.  About mid-match it shifted to the NW to W and picked up just a bit and was variable.  By the end of the match, it had shifted around from the W to SW and varied between the forecast 5 to 10 mph, with no gusting noted, just variable speed.  Shooting in this kind of weather is quite doable and we had fun.

With 5 shooters and 5 lanes, we whizzed through the match in good time.  After the first half, we shifted the firing line back a few yards and did it again.  The ½” KZ targets at 20 and 24 yards created some concern as did the ¾” KZ targets at 30 and 32 yards.  A few “comments” were uttered, but we shot through anyway.  The targets sizes and distances were recorded with the windless Troyer factor at 31.95.  With the wind, the T-factor was 39.89.  We are getting some good wind practice.

The old man, Mike, was top gun again with 36/40 using his Thomas.

Gene – 36/40 shooting his Redwolf, tied, but Mike had the longest run of shots in a row.

Barry – 35/40 shot his Redwolf and was clearly not happy with that.

Wayne – 34/40 shooting his Brocock Sniper

Mark – 32/40 shooting Miss Diana.  I was actually pleased with that score considering. (88% of the top score – I’ll take that)

Next Tuesday is the first of the April shoots and we have decided to move the start time back to 8:30 am.  It is light earlier and the weather is getting warmer, so we are going to take advantage of it.  Shelve your excuses and c’mon out and join us for some fun shooting.

Burgers today tasted particularly good…..mmmm, mmmm, mmmm……!
